Cerebri: A Sleek, Wearable Device for Chronic Migraine Treatment
Project Description:
Migraines are the third most common disease in the world. Despite their prevalence and profound impact on individuals’ lives, there is a clear lack of effective treatments. The traditional approach of pharmaceutical interventions is often discouraging to patients and degrades their quality of life. Emerging electrostimulation treatments offer promise, but remain expensive, non-reusable, and disruptive to daily life. Cerebri proposes a novel solution: dry electrode technology, enabling the application of a noninvasive, wearable, and reusable device that offers effective migraine relief through trigeminal nerve stimulation and desensitization. We see Cerebri as a revolutionary treatment for migraine suffers that puts the patient’s quality of life first. Not only would dry electrodes make it possible to stimulate almost anywhere on the head (including areas with hair), but dry electrodes also make the migraine treatment device a one-time purchase. This is in sharp contrast with electrical stimulation treatments currently on the market that can cost $400 to $600 per month to cover wet electrode and gel replacement – with almost nothing covered by insurance.
