Self-Cleaning Superhydrophobic Surface
Team: Blue Lotus Group
Program:
Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Project Description:
We have devised a novel, inexpensive, and versatile method and associated formulation for
creating superhydrophobic surfaces. The surface created consistently has a water-surface contact
angle above 150°. This product can be used as a self-cleaning surface for numerous applications:
anti-icing, anti-corrosion, and drag reduction are just some of the potential applications of our
invention. We are currently in the process of patenting both the method and the composition of
matter of the surfaces we have created.
