Methyl Ethyl Ketone Process Design

Team: Process Design with ASPEN

Program:

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Project Description:

Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) is a versatile solvent with growing global market demand, resulting in a need for improved production systems. Our team used ASPEN Plus to design a process to produce MEK from secondary butanol. Our final production stream exits the process at 99.5% purity with high recovery rates. This system, once implemented, can provide a streamlined MEK production process.
