Pluto Brace

Team: Clubfoot Innovations

Program:

Center for Leadership Education, Multidisciplinary Design

Project Description:

Clubfoot is a developmental disorder in which a developing foot turns inward and downward during pregnancy. Patients and their families find the current standard of care for clubfoot bracing uncomfortable, resulting in non-ideal rates of compliance to bracing protocols. The Pluto Brace is a bar-less, spring-loaded brace to treat clubfoot that extends to accommodate for patients’ growth. It allows both unilateral and bilateral patients independent movement of their feet, allows the knee to bend, and is easily integrated into the current clubfoot treatment system.
