Designing the Electronics for an Implantable Ultrasound Device

Program:

Electrical and Computer Engineering

Project Description:

The electronics in an ultrasound device require multiple integrated circuits to enable the excitation of the transducer elements, the conditioning of the reflected ultrasound waves, and the digital processing of these reflected waves to construct an ultrasound image. In order to design an implantable ultrasound device, it is critical to simplify the electrical design found in commercial ultrasound devices. We focused our attention towards constructing a works-like prototype of the electronics needed for an implantable ultrasound device.
